Hi, I’m Helen.

Welcome to Helen Made Me, a place to buy individual and unique bags, purses and more all handmade from pre-loved denim.  No two items are exactly the same, and some can be custom-made especially for you.  Each item is labelled to say that “Helen Made Me”.

Helen Made Me is linked to Salient Books, which I jointly run with my husband, Wayne.

For many years now I have been sewing items for my home and family, wherever possible re-purposing unwanted fabric such as curtains and clothing (especially jeans!).  Why spend money on new fabric when I don’t have to! (it’s also more environmentally friendly 😊).

More recently, I’ve been sewing denim bags and zip pouches for friends and family and, with their encouragement, have expanded to sew items to sell.  Making is not only something that I enjoy but also something to focus on in difficult times – in particular coping with the death of our daughter to leukaemia and now my own cancer diagnosis and treatment.
